'He is the cutest about 70% of the time, but the other 30% he is an absolute menace'

We noticed two Begals kept together in a small cage outside in someone's garden, in the south of Spain. They were always outside, except for with rain.

Eventhough my partner and I aren't really cat people (never owned one, and are both actually hardcore dog people), one day we decided to speak to the owner and see whether we could do

something about the situation - we ended up taking the one cat that was very underweight. We own dogs already and don't live too large, so unfortunately taking

both cats wasn't an option. We never had a desire to have a cat, but we both felt like we couldn't leave it in the situation it was in.

The idea of finding it a home that wasn't with us, had always been a very realistic option - we just needed to get him out of his terrible situation first. Sometimes we feel so strongly that we want to keep him, because he is the

sweetest little cuddle bug. He is the cutest about 70% of the time, but the other 30% he is an absolute menace. We're so conflicted, because when he is being sweet we absolutely ADORE him, but his menace mode is just almost too much to for us to handle.

We don't have space for a cat wheel unfortunately, but we have been trying to leash train him and spend a lot of time playing with him and teaching him tricks and

commands. He co-exist with our dogs well, but they don't understand eachothers way of playing (yet). Still his activity levels are still insanely high.

We're so conflicted on whether to keep him or not. We're not sure whether we'll be able to get to a point where we can handle his menace mode. He actually really stresses us out often (he has broken a bunch of thing already), but the idea of of rehoming him makes us feel sick too.

By sharing this, I'm hoping to either receive some encouraging words that will let us know the current situation will turn out alright, or to get a bit more clarity that rehoming him indeed might be better for him. Thank you in advance!

chanelotis First off, thank you for getting him out of that situation. I'm really grateful you stepped in.

Second, Bengals are extremely high-energy, and if you don't feel like you can manage that long-term, it may be best to start looking for a good home for him now. Their energy levels usually don't slow down over time, so it likely won't get easier (lol).

Lastly, I really hope you're able to do the same for the other Bengal still left behind. It's heartbreaking, and I'm hoping they can be rescued and rehomed too.

Various_Ad5385 Bengals are the huskies of cats. They're insane. Good luck

Wrong_Box733 Our Bengal is a menace, at least 30% of the time (maybe more). She's also sweet, loving and clever and our lives are richer for having her. If you can stay the course, I think you'll find they're incredibly rewarding.

    MaineWildMa-25 Keep that baby.

Model_Rules_esq I will say that it's accurate to say that most cats are 70% angels and 30% menace | hope you keep this little one!

Mindless_Home... Keep the menace. I promise you won't be sorry. I rescued my Charlene and she's insane but she's also my little shadow and cuddle bug.
